Pollinator Garden

Inspired by the pollinator gardens at Northeast Harbor Library on Mount Desert Island, Winter Harbor Public Library decided to plant its own. Pollinators such as bees and butterflies have been on the decline for many years. There are many reasons for this. One is loss of habitat. The library hopes to reverse this trend a little by planting native plants and others that are known to attract pollinators. We also hope to enhance our outdoor space where visitors can linger under the shade of a tree. Children can learn about the importance of plants and insects. Others can be motivated to replicate these types of garden beds in their own yards.
